About Me

My name is Elena Skvarilova and  even as a child, my greatest desire was to have a pet. I constantly tried to bring home various kinds of animals such as sick birds, mice or rats and to great happiness of my mother, who quite often found cockroaches or other insect in the cupboard.

I studied and graduated at Slovak College of Agriculture in Ivanka pri Dunaji.

I am a trained veterinary nurse and veterinary technician. During the study I have moved out, so finally I had the opportunity to keep animals. Before hovawarts, I owned 3 mixed-breed dogs. Together with a friend I started regularly visiting a training ground of Armed Forces in Bratislava (to Mr. Ingeli) and observing the training techniques of Armed Forces dogs. Thank to kindness of Mr.Ingeli, I was often allowed to work with his shepherd dog ( Haro Clark). All I learned from him I tried to implement at home with my mongrel dogs.

My passion to train and breed dogs has been awakened. Later I studied kennel club, dog breeding and dog training at Czech Agricultural University in Prague - Suchdol (1999 - 2002). My approval examinations from genetics have been examined by CSC Prof. Dr. Pavel Dostal and basic techniques of dog training by Jan Dubovy.

I am keeping and breeding Hovawarts since 1986.

Since 1997 I possess national judge license for the Hovawart breed.

Since 2002 I have been working as Breed Advisor for Slovak Hovawart Club (SHK).
